This year I planted one clump of lemon grass. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could utilize this in the hives? Is one clump enough to bother with? I am assuming, in my zone 5, that it is an annual. Thanks.

Don't know about using it in the hives, but my wife cooked with it. You're correct about it being an annual. We kept some alive down here by wrapping plastic around it during the "cold" months...kept it in a little tube of plastic.

We use lemon grass oil in our sugar feed. It helps stimulate their feeding.

I use lemon grass essential oil along with spearmint oil in the sugar syrup. The bees LOVE it. I guess you'd need to process it to get the oil.
