During yesterday's warm temperatures I wanted to inspect my hives (2) before winter sets in. I was surprised to find both hives on the light side - their stores already being consumed en masse. They still have quite a bit of stores but not enough to get them through to March. Their cluster was apparent from the ball-shaped empty area on a few frames in both bottom and top chambers near the middle. In terms of trying to save these colonies, is there anything I can do for them? The temps this week will be in the low 40's (5c). Can I feed them and what should I be using? Thanks all!
