about to start cold stratification on the pink milkweed seed that Bob sent me, as well as trying some in the wildflower beds again. I didn't get any to start last year. Going to start Asclepius Tuberosa as well. And pot up some baby Smooth Blue Asters. Those bloom in fall and mine were covered with bees and monarchs right up til first frost

I have found planting a whole fruit is the best way to get peaches going, preferably in my compost pile. Dumped a fruited limb when my tree broke, put it on compost pile and had 20 baby peach trees the next year. Part turned out to be nectarine, apparently my bees were friendly with a plum tree at the same time as the peach was blooming

lol..the squirrels are my nemesis when it comes to any tree seedlings, we goto battle, as they come and either dig up my seedlings or chew through the stems and kill them, seems any nut or fruit trees they target and leave alone any pine or non fruit or nut tree species...
I had hand and shoulder surgery a few weeks ago so my right arm is in a sling and cant really use it for lifting any weight, and it got cold again, so no hive inspections till mid march, well at least not me doing it...
so im just doing some light seed planting and will see what grows or doesnt..

I live trapped my squirrels and took them to a wildlife sanctuary, because with no woods around they were eating the bark off my trees. We had really warm winters and they overpopulated compared to food supply here in 2017.

2018 was my first year to get a decent peach and pear harvest because the squirrels didn't eat all the fruit. 2017 was the year I cut down the mulberry tree because the upper center crown was all dead from squirrel damage.

Hope your arm feels better. I had carpal tunnel and ulnar tunnel surgery back at the end of 2016, and it was a wonder once I healed up. Nice to have full use of my arm

the finger too. Ouch. Get well. I have 2 squirrels to catch and relocate before they hit the fruit trees. In city limits, no hunting and you don't advertise live trapping either

I have a beebee / pellet gun but my aim isn't as good as I'd like it to be and I haven't had time to practice, may have to get my grandson to help me work on it.

if you put a scope on it , that will help big time, and its fun to shoot..take a bunch of old playing cards and staple them to a piece of plywood face down and each of you get 5 shots to hit 5 cards, pull the cards off after each one shoots and the best hand wins...or you can make up whatever rules you want....
