Milkweed

May not be real gardening, but it is growing around my vegetable garden, and the bees love it, so it stays.

Tuesday I found a monarch caterpillar on the ground and placed it on a milkweed leaf. Yesterday I looked for it and found a beautiful green crysalis! First one I have ever seen. Now to wait 10-14 days... and hope the birds don't eat it.

cut the plant stalk down and put it in a bird cage or something of the like to keep the birds off of it.

I have not picked any yet this year, but the kids raised about ten monarchs last year in a large glass jar and then released them. Here is a pic.
