I checked a hive today - bees are bringing in millet. It looks like millet from bird feeders. And not just a couple of seeds - but lots. The floor of the hive has a pretty even spread of millet and they are even putting it in some of the cells.

They have honey, sugar bricks and pollen patties, which they seem to be taking down. Has anyone seen this before or know what is going on?

sometimes the bees can be so ready for spring time that they will bring in things that look or smell like pollen.

a bee is driven by olfactory clues and I suspect G3 has it exactly right.
