Hard luck. Never mind there will be others. .:grin:

At least you have swarms. We have had a long cold wet Spring. Well into May and I have not even heard of a swarm in the area.

All my calls have been about Bumblebees. :cry: Some folk think "You keep bees ---- I have (Bumble) bees at my home. I expect you to do something about them." !!*****!!

lol and should you try to capture the bumblebees you discover the value of a bee suit and gloves--next to nothing, bumblebees will sting right through most our commonly used stuff.

Puny...well it was just the perfect size for me I think...especially for a first swarm!
Just give me a good queen and it'll be a big strong hive in no time. :smile:
Of that I have no doubt. Your grasp of beekeeping has been amazing to follow. :thumbsup:

They "usually" bivouac within a short distance of the parent hive (typically well within 100 yards). Did you see the source for these anywhere? Perhaps instead of your first swarm, you may find yourself working on your first trap-out?

Omie, From the picture, it looks to me like a "bait swarm". As opposed to a "bait hive" that attracts swarms, a "bait swarm" attracts beekeepers. It draws them out of their hives (=homes) and seduces them to go away together with their spouses on a wonderful trip. You gotta look at the full half of the cup. I wish you and your hubby many more enjoyable wild goose/swarm chases. :lol: {Of course, there's nothing wrong if you make the trip and catch the bait swarm too. Better luck next time.}

"When you see a swarm.
In your neighbourhood.
Don't be alarmed,
It's something good.
Want them gone?
Don't hesitate,
Who ya gonna call?
Our Omie!"
