I was called by a neighbor in Middleburg, about seeing a mosquito control truck ( sprayer ), stop in front of my hives while going up the street, and again while going back. I was afraid they had sprayed the colonies. They didn't, but did place a note on the hive requesting me to register my site with the county to avoid accidental spraying of the bees. I thought that was something they didn't have to do, and greatly appreciated what they did. One wonders what would have happened would less caring or less observant employee were operating the unit. I was advised that it kills ONLY flying insects, and would not effect bees who are daytime fliers.
