    Good morning,
I just found the beekeeping forums app for my phone this morning and thought I would sign up.
I just build a long box style hive this summer and am expecting my first hive this week.

I am not the kind of guy to do the normal routine but I also do not have any experience yet
so we will see how it goes this year.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Rick

Welcome ! Once upon a time I lived in VA beach. I didn't keep bees then so I won't have any good local advice. But I will happily try to answer any questions.

The hive is built and I am awaiting bees this weekend or next.
Virginia Beach is fairly mild until November or even January.
I am trying to post a photo.

Thank you. All comments are appreciated.
I do have a local mentor for the year.
He is very knowledgeable about this area.

I am looking to design different hive boxes
and see which one does the best for me.

I am also considering a basic langstrom box
to put in a tree as a swarm incentive.
That won't be until next spring.

Are there still trees there? I moved out of virgina beach in 99. I was back there on business in 08 I didn't even know my way around. it seemed they filled in all the green spaces with concrete.

    Yes still many trees.
You may not recognize places distant from the baordwalk because it has expanded so much since 99 and 08. I came here in 89. I love it still.
