This is the second time this happened to me and I am wondering if anyone else has had the same experience. I was in Margretsville yesterday helping another new keep with one of his hives. As I was lifting off the top super I felt a sudden and sharp stabbing feeling in the tip of my thumb. I couldn't drop the super so I quickly set it aside and looked at my thumb to see what it was. It felt like I had driven a nail or something into the end of it, it did not feel like a sting. There it was, an earwig. Both of those pincher type things on their back end were completely sunk into the end of my thumb, and man did it hurt. I set my thumb on the top edge of the next super and squished the bugger and pulled my thumb away effectively removing the piercing bits. For hours after my thumb throbbed, like I could feel each pulse. I remembered the first time a few years ago that this happened. I had no idea they could do this.
