We got a text about 6:15 tonight from some friends that had a swarm in their tree. I asked how high they were and she said only 5-6'. So, off we went. It took more time to drive over there than it did to get them in the box. We had to trim one limb and I shook them in the box. In a little while, all the stray bees were in the nuc.

I will get them hived tomorrow, but I now need some more woodenware. I only have enough for two hives and more bees scheduled to ship on Monday. I guess I will make a migratory cover this weekend. Darn the luck!

We got them in a 10 frame deep with a frame feeder. They had already started drawing some comb out. Now they are doing their orientation flights.

I have got to build another hive stand this weekend. I didn't want to use the extra spot I already had for the package that is coming next week, so I will have to move the hive slightly from where it is. This new hive stand will also have space for two hives, so if we catch another swarm, we will be ready!

I started with equipment for two hives and quickly swelled to 9 hive by late summer.

Although I couldn't get a picture, the new swarm is bringing in pollen.

My Dadant order should be here today. I have just enough time to get everything together before my package of bees arrives. I made a migratory cover, just in case.
