I have to paint my occupied hives. Can i paint them with the bees inside? I am using acrylic latex barn paint. Thanks

Yes the sides and backs are the easiest as the bees are less likely to beard there. The front you can do at night if the bees are in or smoke them in and push a u shaped #8 screen in the entrance to keep the bees in for the 1/2 hr for the paint to dry. It is more work but you can rotate the supers 180 deg so the untainted front is now at the back to be painted once the front and sides are dry.

That is your choice. I don't think you have to paint cedar. But a friend of mine used tung oil on the outside of his cedar boxes and they were beautiful
