These last few weeks the bees seemed to find another gear with regard to pollen collection in the mornings. There are so many bees coming back with pollen that the entrance gets cluttered with bees full of the stuff.
My question: When they collect pollen do they also carry a load of nectar or is it one or the other?

    Thanks,
    Ed

usually both. a bit later in the season (later here than for you) the bee's collective psychology seem to change somewhat and as we move into the fall of the year they will begin collecting and hording pollen. sometime during this period of time they will collect 'stuff' that may appear like pollen to a bee but will leave you scratchin' your head wonderin' "what are they thinkin".
