So I pulled the top feeder (quart jar) today before work. It was empty and I don't have time to refill before work. Also we have a good bloom going on the blackberry mass right behind the hive, and all around the area, so I wanted to see how they do without the feeder between now and when I inspect them this weekend. Through the hole in the inner cover I saw a fair amount of nice white burr comb on the tops of frames and it got me to thinking: I need to be removing that comb right? I don't think there's an excess of bee space. 10 frames in a 10 frame deep. So clearly I'm seeing comb being built but not on the Ritecell foundation. There's new white comb as burr but not much on the foundation. So do I need to do something to entice them to build on the foundation.
