It's early September in Florida and we're getting ready for our fall honey flow. So why do all my hives have queen cups? I'm thinking crowding, but they have lots of pulled comb, not much honey (having made it through out summer dearth), and a medium amount of brood. Since this is the hive that likes to swarm, I split it side by side. Now I'm having remorse. It had 4 boxes, 2 meds and 2 brood. The brood and cups were in the top deep. (It was deep, med, med, deep). I placed an empty medium on a bottom board and moved the top brood and one of the mediums on top of that. So now I'm thinking that was stupid. Maybe I should recombine, but put the excluder under the brood box and make them make another queen that way. Then when she's ready, do the split. Thoughts?
