Emerged or murdered?
The opening is on the side. This hive swarmed on the 12th of May I believe.
I say murdered. Look at these two pics that show one emerged queen cell and one killed:
I agree with drbuzz, looks like another queen ripped the side and did away with the queen in cell. An emerged one usually has more of a hinged door or trapped door look at the end of it.
Further away shot. Two queens executed?
Absolutely. Should be all of them look like that but one. If you compare the one on the right to that picture I linked you to, you can see the similarity. I've had colonies that had over a dozen like that, and one perfectly hinged one.
definitely murder. round up the usual suspects!
ps... if you look at picture 2 your may notice that the wax at the very end tip of the cell (left side) has bee chewed away. that is the undulation or wax texture you see over the remainder of the cell has been removed. this typically occurs at about one day prior to the queen emerging. queens (virgin and mated) seem to pretty much ignore queen cells up until this time.
Either that or the worst case of suicide I've ever seen
Definitely a lot of civil rights violations occur in a beehive. Murder, assault, regicide, slave labor....It's a holocaust in there. A tasty one.
I nearly snarfed my coffee at this line, I was laughing so hard.
