I have at least two hives that were installed late March where I have a marked and laying queen present - I have seen her - yet I have some cells with two or sometimes 3 & 4 eggs.
What on earth is going on!?

were those queens installed in late March, and were they virgin or mated queens at the time?

Two or three eggs on bottom of cell, QUEEN, no worry.

2, 3, 4, 5, 6 eggs in cell, some on sidewalls, too late to worry. Hive is gone without more trouble than a hive is worth.

Sometimes it takes a new queen just a little while to figure things out. Remember she is new at this also.
