Results of USDA NASS survey

    There's always a good deal of "spirited discussion" on whether to respond or ignore the NASS survey. Our Indiana State Assoc really encouraged members to participate last year since the USDA hive counts were far below what we believe the actuals are. Even though the report shows a nearly 30% increase in # of hives from 2008 to 2009, the total for Indiana is still way below the informal counts we've collected at meetings.

    Regardless, the numbers are interesting. Honey production/hive for Indiana & Illinois were down by about half, which seems accurate.
