Share your swarm lure

    I wanted to make some, found many old ones but not sure where you get the components.I have lemongrass is that really all I need.I found some bee trees and want to catch some swarms this year.

    As you go through your hives and change out old queens for new ones, drop the old queen in a small jar (think baby food jar) that is about 1/2 full of alcohol. the pheromones will leach out into the alcohol, use a Q-tip to dip into the solution and put in your bait hives.

    Old, black comb is about as good as you can get.

    A combination of LGO, an old brood comb and a lived in box or nuc is what I use. I caught 17 swarms last season with two traps so now for this season I already have 20 traps out. Let the bees swarm! :yahoo:

    Iddee, When do you start setting out traps in these parts? I have heard mid-April but with this weather??? :roll:

    I'll be setting mine out this weekend, need some camo paint for a couple of them :wink:

    Mine are out in Texas. Some have been for a couple of weeks.
