    I think the first mention of this kind of extractor was in an old ABJ dated about 1975. The fellow called it a stick extractor and evidently would demonstrate how the device worked at beekeeping meeting. If my memory is still intact he used a square tin can where the current version uses what appears to be one half of a home made barrel.

    looks like good exercise.
