I have some beetle blasters in a couple of hives and they seem to work pretty good, they will not catch "every" beetle, but I really don't think any of them will.

Have not tried either one of the others, the beetle jail seems a little pricey to me, and they have not been out long so the jury is still out on them as I see it.

The one thing I like is no chemicals in the hive!!

keep the hives strong and keep them out of the shade and you will have less problems with beetles

    Sam,

Do you have a problem with beetles?

You asked "when" you should put the beetle trap in the hive. Answer....Never, as it should not be a concern here in the north.
