I retrieved a swarm from a backyard today. About 14 feet up and the hive setting on my truck. When shook, the bees fell about 6 feet to the truck bed. Many took to the air. I'm guessing half the swarm in the air. The ""most intelligent"" neighbor walked into the swarm and stayed right there, spending the next 5 minutes telling me how deathly allergic he was to honeybee stings.
