sometimes I don't understand what I see

    A first for me I found four out of four queens today :clap:. But I'm not sure what I found in these pictures:confused:. It struck me as odd enough to fight with my phone and take some pics ( boss lady was spending the day with her sister ).

    My guess would be burr comb with drone larvae.

    burr comb with drone cells, my guess is that you are using foundation and they, for the most part, do not deviate from the foundation pattern.

    The frames were not close enough to each other and the bees filled in the extra space with drone comb which the queen layed in. In other words, in full agreement with Paul and G3.

    and to add to that appears like queen cell cups, in last two pictures, but unless the queen lays eggs in them they are decoration.

    and on not so infrequent occasion this is also true for me. not so long ago I heard Beneford Weaver make the same comment.
