I unpackaged 2 new packages of bees this past Saturday into hives. I'm feeding both hives with 1:1. Both hives are going through a quart jar in 10 hours. Is this normal and if so is 1 jar a day good enough or should I keep them topped off?
It's not a leak. I thought the same thing but there hasn't been a drop of syrup on the feeder when I've checked. I'm amazed at how much they are putting down
Not unusual with a good package. They'll turn that syrup into comb and brood. If they're not bringing in lots of pollen I'd put a patty on them too.
