I just checked on the hive I put in, in late April and noticed a ball of bees near the entrance under th boreman feeder. Is this a sign of an impending swarm or do I need worry about it?

Bearding.... Just normal warm weather activity. Too hot inside, so they go out on the patio.

    Iddee,

Thanks for the reassuring answer. I recently lost a hive (swarmed?) and was fortunate enough to catch a swarm recently. With the long hours at work (6-10 hr days) and the hour drive one way. Not much time for bee business. The weather hasn't been the greatest lately either (wet and cool). Looks like high 70's for the next few days. I'll get the hives open and check on everyone. I'm excited to see how the captured swarm is getting along in their new home.
