took me 3 hours to suck them all up, didnt find the queen at all, then the wife who was sitting 10 feet away spots a little ball on the ground near the wall and its the queen and she is black.8 frames of brood and 3 of food, the hive is 2 brood boxes tall what a sweet removal :Dancing: :yahoo:

You're just killing me with pics like that!

(Keep postin 'em though)

I gotta ask, could they not find anything more suitable around there other than the wide open? I'm puzzled, surely there must be something somewhere?

wow this new hive is taking a 1/2 gallon of 1 to 1 a day, pollen rolling in and today when I came home I thought something was real wrong, turns out what looked like was 1000 bees doing orientation flights, what a site it was :Dancing:

when I did this removal it ended up 2 brood boxes high, all there old comb in the bottom and 10 new frames with rite-cell in the top box, I opened up the top box today to take a fast look around to see how they are doing, they are building on 7 of the frames already and 5 of the 7 have eggs. :yahoo:

Really, really, really nice there, Zookeep. Only problem I see is that there taking too much syrup...I'll help you out and pm my address to you so you can deliver them to me this weekend (I'll give you $5 to help out on the sugar till then)....just 'cause I'm a nice guy!!!

BTW, what kind of a location were they at that folks let them build up to that size of an external colony? It looks like it's low down and would be in a foot traffic area. ????

Looked around in this hive today and had to add another 9 inch 10 frame box today, the 2 they have was full of bees, totally packed, and I saw 3 clumps of capped drone cells, wont be long till Im doing splits, did see 1 lone drone moving around in another hive, if I had seen more I would have done a split already :Dancing:
