One of my hives sent off a big swarm the other day. Landed on a (too high) branch and hung there all day. I put out a box of drawn comb, and there were lots of scouts checking it out, but when the swarm left the next day, they went elsewhere. Bummer.

I'm assuming that it was because I had my box set on the ground. No bee colony with a brain would chose a ground level home in this snow belt!

Buy a shot gun. the swarm would have to be 40 to 50 yards high to be to high then.
