Checked my hive today two weeks after combining two hives. Wow..I had a major brood hatch..bees out the wazoo..I have frames in my brood boxes full of honey, other frames packed with pollen, they are back filling empty brood comb, frames of capped brood 4 frames over from center and honey in the center frames..burr comb all over the place, supercedure cells, queen cups, drone brood mixed in with worker brood, I think I have a disaster but the bees seem like they have everything they need, just not the way I think they should be doing it. Well, they have been around longer than we have so I guess they know what they are doing, but my hive looks like the aftermath of a drunken frat party. I'm guessing this is abnormal normal?

Bees don't read the same books we do !
And they don't listen very well either.

sounds like you needed more supers on the hive.
