We are looking at variations on design on Top Bar beehives for use in northern Uganda - My concern is having adequate ventilation more than just the entrance holes in a hot dry environment. Also the usage of a divider board to secure new colonies mitigating pest control. If anyone has experience in Top Bar beekeeping in a tropical environment would they please share their thoughts and designs?

We don't have experience, but my partner who is building my top bar hive is a carpenter & suggested a gable roof with vents so moisture & heat doesn't become trapped. It works on houses so why not hives? I've also read where other hives needed "top ventilation" in hot climates. We are going to do it.
