I'm going to do a series of tips on different features you can use on the forums. Most of the things I'll talk about can be used on other forums too, you'll just have to see if it's in the control panel.
POP-UP on PM's
Just like it say's, if you have pop-up on PM's turned on in the user control panel then you'll get a pop-up message whenever you receive a new PM. This can be very helpful if you are not in the habit of checking the number at the top of the page on a regular basis.
To turn this on go to the user control panel and click on the "board preferences" link. About half way down you will see:
"Pop up window on new private message:"
Change this option to "yes" and click submit. that's it, you will now receive a pop-up window when you receive a new message. To turn it off change the option back to "no"
