I'm into beekeeping for about 8 months now and this morning I put a medium super on a hive and it doesn't sit flat. There is about 3/16 to 1/4 inch space on one corner about 6 inches long going both ways from the corner. This is a new box I bought locally, should I fill the space in with cotton rope or do something else or just leave it like it is?

At least tape that seam. Warped boxes can lead to robbing, give pests access to a hive and cause your hive to abscond. Cotton rope in the gap isn't a terrible idea either.
