We have a 14,000+ Wildfire about 12 miles from us. I snapped this photo in the back yard, the smoke goes for as far as you can see:

Last night all that smoke was lit up with a red glow, If I see it again tonight I snap another photo.

    Stats so far:

    14,000+ acres (0% containment)
    18 confirmed structures burned
1 confirmed missing, many more questionable
    fire started yesterday morning

I doubt it will make it to us but who knows, this thing is huge. We've been much closer to one but not for years...

How close is it to you?

That is some very thick smoke, at least it is not blowing towards you.

Stay safe and keep your eyes peeled.

So how do the bees react if the wind brings all of that smoke your way?

Believe it or not, the fire has even been in the news here. I hope it burns itself out soon and gets under control with minimal damage. Weather maps don't seem to indicate a dousing of rain on the way to extinguish it. May God protect you all.

great picture charles, i have been watching this as well, have some family just south of fort collins, but no where close in harms way, but are getting the smoke. i am guessing by this picture, you are under some air quality advisory? as others said, iddee, "no macro shots", and be safe

There is a weak front headed eastward, but I think it is dipping south to us. The weather is contributing to these fires.. Be safe, Blessings.

The news is reporting 41,000+ acres now and the 1 missing is now a confirmed death. Air quality was pretty bad last night but much better today...all depends on which way the wind decides to blow :)

Still growing fast but not in our direction, I've had no desire to get anywhere near that thing.

We had a big fire out here back in 2000 that we could see. At one point we were within 300 ft of the flames. We had 5 horses back then boarded at a friends place, he had about 30 horses total. We brought out our 3 horse and 2 horse trailer and had them backed up to the paddocks with about 10 other trailers. Smoke was so thick you could barely breath, anyway the fire dept was fighting the fire just over the hill and told us if it crested to get the animals out and leave. We were lucky and the wind blew the fire back on itself before it got to us. All ended well...

    All ended well...

sometime fate turns on which way the wind blows. thankfully in this case fate sought to blow it in the other direction. I am glad to hear you, family and the horses are out of harms way.

Charles, It's been almost a week with no updates. Seemed promising when last you posted. Is all well? Hope so.
