I gave my sister a little block of beeswax to use on the thread she uses for making bead jewelry. She put it in a little tin, larger than the wax block, then set the tin on a hot plate briefly so it would melt slightly and be stuck in the tin. Instead of making a little pool of wax in the bottom, the melted wax crawled up the sides of the tin and over the edge!

Is there something odd about beeswax that it defies laws of physics like this?

Sounds like the tin had oil in it.
