Cleaning out the blackberry patch. The canes froze last year (no berries 2011) so i let the asters grow up in the rows for the bees to work in the fall, bad mistake. You can't pull them out you have to cut them out, and with cutting the old dead canes out (should have done that last fall) i've got a mountain of debris between the rows. Got one 250 ft. row cleaned out yesterday with three more to go, (of the Triple crown berries) going to take out two rows of the Apache berries and put in more Triple crown.I put out three more rows last fall (two Triple crown and one Chester) that are looking good.My wife helped me yesterday for three hours, and as she stopped to go start supper, stood there with her hands on her hips looking me in the eye saying, Now Who Do You Think Is Going To Pick All Of These. What makes women say things like that. Jack

    brooksbeefarm,
do you mind if i ask why you are taking out the apache?

the reason i ask is that is one of the varieties i was giong to try - along with arapaho.

isn't chester & triple crown a trailing varieties?

    thanks,
    T.J.
