While I had the top off of the hive today, I saw this crawling around the inside of the telescoping cover. It looks like a bee, but it's body is very thin (or flat), and it's small. I know the quality of the picture is not so good, but the only camera I have is on the phone. I wasn't expecting to see something like that, so I didn't have anything with me to use as a size reference. Could it be a baby drone? It's smaller than a worker. The flat body is what is throwing me off. It wasn't very active, but the temperature was 49F.

You're exactly right, Omie! I've never heard of such a thing. I could have sworn it was an anorexic bee!
