Ok, I ca n't figure out what this little square metal part is that came in the box with my new smoker. It has two edges that are bent up.
Is this just an accidental random piece of metal that got mistakenly thrown in the box, or does it have a purpose with the smoker? It does not seem to 'fit' anywhere on the smoker.
I did get the little round raised perforated grate that goes inside the smoker to raise the fuel up off the bottom a bit.

    But what's this thing?

Nothing I've ever seen before. Probably scrap, like you said.

I would ask the supplier. It may be a hanger of some sort.

If you compress the bellows the clip will fit over the top to keep the bellows compressed. Maybe easier to store or transport.

    Oh... DUH!!!!!

It works perfectly. Handy for when you store your smoker on a shelf I guess- makes it about 2" narrower. I suppose it was on when the smoker was in its box brand new, too, and maybe it fell off during transit and I found it at the bottom of the box.
Thanks- I never would have guessed it! One of those little things that nag at you if you can't solve the mystery. :)
