With the cold getting ready to bearing down, and fewer beekeeping duties, what are you going to do with that extra time? We're selling our house so I've got a list of "honey-do's" as long as my arm that I'll be workin on. What about you guy's?

I am in Texas and all of my hives have a windbreak on their northwest side, so they'll be ok...The big idea is to install a Ben Franklin woodstove here...We had one 35 years ago, when we were married, and oak is very plentiful around here, thanks to springstorms. People cannot seem to give it away. That's odd, because a ew years back, it was 110 a cord...Go figure. :)

The tree trimmers give me truck loads of oak, delivered. If I were to sell it, I would get at least 110 a cord, just for cutting the logs to length and splitting it.

PS, I have an outside wood fired water stove. It burns about 8 cords annually. That is enough to keep an "old" man busy in the off season.

We're 200 for a cord of hardwood here in colorado. I have a buddy like you bee catcher, they drop off over at his place. We come up and he lets me have all I want if I cut and split myself, only string is I have to cut and split an extra pickup load for his dad. I don't mind doing it considering it's 2.40 a gallon for propane this year, we'll be burning alot more than usual...

It's getting close to the end of 2008 and tonight here in Central North Carolina it is going down to around 20 degs. Burrrr- No snow here but the New England states are getting hit hard and very, very cold in the Dakota area. (And I am complaining) Shame on me.

I will be making my hives sometime in January so they will be ready for my bees in April. Real anxious to get them as I never had bees before.
