would a hive swarm twice in less than 7 days?

I just arrived from work and noticed what looked like orientation flight (larger scale)... as I got closer it appeared many were airborne, same as the swarm last week (smaller scale)

I split one in order to prevent swarming, then it swarmed 4 times in 3 weeks. You can't predict what those little bugs will do. Total.....6 hives...

it appears they did swarm... too high for me to reach 35-40 ft... I put out a warre hive with lemongrass oil and placed wax throughout... its only 5 ft off the ground as I have nowhere to setup higher at this juncture


any suggestions how to get them down without a ladder?

The first swarm to leave is called the primary swarm. It almost always has the old queen in the swarm.

The second and following swarms are called "secondary" swarms and contain a virgin queen, with many times more than one queen in the swarm.

A hive can swarm to the point that the hive actually swarms itself to death. Which usually means that it's weakened to the point that it can not defend itself.

Have you ever tried tanging them? Send your kids out with some pots and wooden spoons and have them make a racket!

Not sure if it will help with the swarm, but the kids would enjoy that...
