After my thymol overdose a few weeks ago, the bees mostly vacated the hive and were hanging around the outside until the air cleared and then they moved back in. This was all while some major robbing was beginning. The bees did finally did re-enter the hive after I opened up things to got the hive aired out. I built/installed Iddee's robber screen and the major wave of robbing and subsequent damage to stores was averted. I'm not certain I didn't kill the queen in all this, but since the days have been unusualy warm, I still have minor robber raids daily and I don't want to open up the hive to look for the queen. So, I'm continuing to feed (top feeder) 2/1 syrup and I still have the robber screen installed. I just finished 3 of the Honey Run covers. I plan to install one of them when they stop taking syrup. I'll install a mouse guard when the robbing completely stops and I'll probably tar paper the hive at that point. The temps over the next week will be highs in the 60's and lows in the 30's. What can I do differently? Two deeps and a shallow super.
