I sure WISHED I was working my bees.
Saturday: Put the tractor together, got it running and did some mowing. Weedwacked along the drainage ditch. Shoveled horse muck. Moved all the stacked wood from the porch to the side yard. Put away all the tarps over the wood piles. Filled in holes in the yard where a new water line was put in last fall (much more to do on that!). Cleaned and put away the humidifier. Did a couple loads of laundry.
Sunday: Skipped church. Went with wife to the store she's opening May 2nd and cleaned 4000 sq feet of floor littered with all the debris from putting in new lighting and ceiling tiles. My aching back left me hobbling like a very, very old man!

Yeah, I would've like to be working my bees, too, but I was edging, weeding and planting. My girls were very busy, though and visited me in the flower beds. They were really enjoying the oxalis and their watering hole. Thinking I'd better put on more honey boxes very soon.
I inspected both of my hives saturday. My swarm hive I was able to spot eggs in there, so I am pretty excited that the swarm is doing good. And I know that I have a laying queen.
My older hive has both brood boxes just about filled up with eggs, brood, and honey. It looks like they are just about ready to start working on the honey super that I have on.
I see that by this weekend here in NC it is going to be in the 80's. That should really kick the bees into gear.

I caught two swarms Sat. after coming home from an overnight stay at the lake cabin Fri. night.
Gave a queenless hive a frame of brood Sunday, mowed the non-blooming portion of my yard. It was 10 to 12 inches.
Bush hogged one bee yard Sun. evening, until the rain came.
